Genuine Scooter Company has a long-standing tradition of doing a handful of special editions each year. The latest is the Riot, which will be available in 50cc and 125cc varieties. Featuring a Riot-exclusive matte silver paint color that Genuine is calling Matte Platinum Metallic, the Riot also includes a handful of key upgrades:
- Upgraded front fork springs on the 125
- adjustable rear sport shock on both models
- Custom front wave rotor
- Braided steel front brake lines
- Red front brake caliper
- Blacked out wheels, bezels and rear grab rail
- Sport Brake Levers and Hand Grips
- Custom Sport Mirrors
- Low Profile Seat
We’ve long said that an upgraded front suspension is a must on any Buddy scooter. Previous Buddy special edition models have included the NCY upgraded front forks, but it looks like this time around Genuine has opted for upgraded internals on the standard front forks. Every little bit helps, and this more intermediate step would likely help explain the Riot’s pricing. That is, according to Genuine’s website, the Riot is priced identical to its standard siblings at an MSRP of $1,999 or $2,799 for the 50cc and 125cc models respectively.
It’s a handsome scooter, especially with the black outs, and unless the upgraded front fork springs are rolling out across the lineup, the pricing is a bit of a head-scratcher. We’d expect at least a couple hundred bucks premium for something non-standard. If you’re interested, perhaps you should go snag yours before Genuine comes to their senses and raises the price.
