Piaggio Group Recalls 2,600 Vespas For Faulty Fuel Pumps

Beginning March 16, Piaggio Group is recalling 2,600 Vespa and Piaggio scooter models from years ranging from 2008-2010. The recall is for possibly faulty fuel pumps on fuel-injected models. If the pumps fail, the scooter will stall, which can certainly be hazardous. Additionally, affected models may not restart within 10-15 minutes of being shut off.

That second symptom is particularly unfortunate, as overfilling a modern Vespa’s fuel tank can cause a similar issue. This USA recall for the fuel pump is an extension of an Italian investigation into stalling issues there.
