The tilting three-wheeler market has a new addition, the Yamaha Tricity 125. Announced at EICMA last fall, the Tricity joins the Piaggio MP3 and Peugeot Metropolis in this small but slowly growing class of scooter. Though the engineering of the front linked suspension is similar to its predecessors, the Tricity takes a different approach, with a smaller, lighter (322lb.) body, lower displacement, and tall (14″) front tires. Its appearance is more sport-like, with a raptor-like front end the arcs over the front fenders. With prices around the $5000 USD mark for most markets, the Tricity will also be the lowest priced among the three.
As much as we’d like to take one out for a spin, doing so will require international travel as there are no plans to bring the Tricity to the the US. The model will likely debut in Asia later this year, then rollout across Europe in 2015.
