Review: Hands-on With the Genuine Buddy 170i Brit Special Edition

While hanging around at ScooterWorks Chicago during the launch event for the Genuine Stella 125 Automatic, something blue and white in the corner of the show room caught my eye. What I saw was one of the rumored Genuine Buddy Brit special edition 170is. We first heard about this bike about a year ago, but it was great to finally see it in person.

Underneath, it’s a standard Buddy 170i, but on top, The Brit edition is a new combination of colors and options celebrating the British tradition of scooters. The Union Jack seat is a particularly nice touch, although I couldn’t help but notice that the colors didn’t quite match. But for those looking for a more mod take on a modern scooter, The Brit might be just right for you.

Genuine has a long tradition of creating one-of-a-kind special editions of their bikes. From the Atomic Fireball Stella to the Black Cat and the more recent Lemonhead Buddy 50. There was even a british racing green “Great Britain Edition” Stella back in the day. This latest Buddy is a continuation of that tradition and our sources at Genuine tell us to expect something special on a regular basis.
