Riding your scooter cross-country is an undertaking at any pace. It’s not what the vast majority of scooters are designed to do. Yet every other year, an intrepid group of scooterists make the journey as a coast-to-coast rally race. Here’s the official summary:
The Scooter Cannonball Run is a coast to coast endurance event for scooters. It is a test of both rider and machine that covers 2500 miles and takes in some of the best motorcycle roads on the North American continent. It will be run as a time/distance/regularity rally where points are awarded based on miles completed and the ability to maintain the standard pace.
Official results go all the way back to 2004 and we’re excited to see the event return again this year. It’s something so epic in its sheer ridiculousness that it sort of has to exist. I think it’s one of those things that ought to be on a hard core scooterist’s bucket list — one of those things you have to do once. I also appreciate that it’s a time/distance rally, which has a great motorsport heritage.
So best of luck to all the competitors. Keep up with the official day-by-day results over at the official Scooter Cannonball website.
