With autumn weather rapidly turning towards winter weather for most of North America, spring is in the air down under. A sure-fire remedy for the winter no-scooting blues is to fly to Australia during the worst of our weather in the northern hemisphere. Time to start planning for a vacation tour of beautiful Australia featuring not one, not two, but three rally events! The first one is the Australia 2019 Joint UK/Aussie Rally and takes place in Adelaide on the west coast.
South West Scooter Clubs is an organization made up of the various scooter clubs in the South West Of England. They came together in 1997 to fill a gap when the NSRA folded and to take over the running of Finlake national rally.
Their mission now is to provide national quality events and generally promote scootering throughout the South West of England. They jointly with Reservoir Gods SC Australia will be running something very special for 2019 in Australia!
The event is scheduled for Australia Day 2019 (Saturday, 26 January Public Holiday Monday, 28 January) in association with scooterists from all over Australia.
British rules apply – All inclusive, open all geared and auto scooters.
The plan is to only ever run this event once so if you want to attend the experience of a lifetime this is the only chance to do it.
SWSC/Reservoir Gods have clarified most details and more will follow, but the basic plan will be along the lines of their Vegas event – with a rally hotel and a series of events around the area with night dos in the city. You will probably find some hire scooters available for the weekend which generally are autos.
Due to the nature of the event and the travelling involved, the majority of British/United States guys and other travellers will not have scooters. To suit, SWSC have planned some of the daytime events at the local beaches and areas outside the city where both attendees on scooters and those travelling without them can meet up, and evening entertainment. As Adelaide has such good public transport system those attending without scooters will still be able to get to all events.
SWSC/Reservoir Gods have secured a great deal from two sister hotels on South Terrace in Adelaide. The hotels are more or less next to each other, amazing parklands and have good parking facilities. Specific under cover parking has been reserved for scoots.
They have negotiated the following rates:
The Chifley – Aud$109 per room per night
The Sage – Aud$125 per room per night
To book, go to you preferred hotel site, click on BOOK NOW in top right hand corner, put in your chosen dates and add the code SCOOTER in the promotion code box.

From 7pm head on down to the Crown & Sceptre. SWSC have arranged to have the whole pub, so come along in your best Mexican garb and enjoy The Young and the Wrestlers together with some party tunes from DJ’s. Let’s go out with a bang while saying your goodbyes to friends old and new. Don’t stay too late, though, because you’re going to want to rest up for your quick scooter ride to Melbourne, only 406 miles (727 Km) away.
That’s right, a quick scoot, drive or flight will get you to the next stop on the trans-Australian rally tour, only days later! To keep the fun going for the visitors from the US and UK, SWSC/Reservoir Gods are combining with the Melbourne guys to put something together for the week after the rally. On Wednesday 30th January, Wild Dog Creek SC are putting on an evening do at The Paradise Alley Bar in the Collingwood area of Melbourne.
It’s a chance not to be missed, especially if you doing the triple. A quality event in the stop over middle stop of your tour. And if you are in the area on Wednesday night, why not pop on over to Sydney on the East coast. It’s only 443 miles (878 Km), which would be a nice ride on a scooter.
The party moves to Sydney on Saturday, 02 Feb, 2019, and kicks off at with a party on a harbour cruise at 11:00AM. Join a musical cruise of the amazing Sydney Harbour with DJs from Oz and the UK playing all your classic scooter sounds whilst cruising the harbour taking in some of the worlds most iconic sights.
